Team effectiveness and conflict handling
You will:
- Look at typical ways in which teams work together
- Look at emotional intelligence and why it is important to your team
- Investigate your personality type and how this influences your work in teams
- Investigate your team's emotional intelligence and receive a detailed profile report of your team's strengths and areas for development
- Look at the importance of trust and understanding in teams
- Learn how to recognise and effectively deal with conflict in teams
- What is the overall level of effectiveness of your team?
- How does each team member view your team?
- How do outsiders view your team?
- Team Building – what happens when a new team is formed?
- Team development - relationships, task effectiveness and conflict resolution
- Culture and climate change – how to bring about change to improve your organisation’s effectiveness
- Team leading and management – how can team leaders use the team profile to make continuous quality improvements?
Programme outline:
Before the training starts, all participants will be asked to complete a short (25 minutes) Emotional Intelligence tool online. These questionnaires will be emailed to the trainer before the course starts.
The Team Effectiveness Tool is one of the latest, advanced and detailed measures of Emotional Intelligence available today and had been used extensively as a development tool for teams. 360 degree feedback on your team is also available.
Theme 1
Motivation and commitment
How well motivated are team members towards shared team goals rather than individual goals?
Theme 2
Conflict handling
What is conflict and how well does your team handle it? This module will look at different conflict resolution styles and will analyse how your team could improve the way it deals with conflict.
Theme 3
Team climate
We will look at the climate that the team has to work in and analyse how well it supports your team and the self-esteem of individual team members.
Theme 4
Self-management
How well does your team culture support people in managing themselves and their energy well?
Theme 5
Relationship management
How effectively do team members relate to each other. Are there clashes in personality and how are they dealt with?
Theme 6
Openness of communication
How easy is it for people in your team to talk with each other, in particular about their feelings?
Theme 7
Tolerance of differences and diversity in teams
Evidence shows that diverse teams are often the best teams, but only if team members accept and tolerate those differences. How well does your team tolerate and make the most of individual differences? Using the above themes, we will look at how each of them can be applied to effective teamwork.
